James Gleason (Jim) Bayly, 82, formerly of Covington, died Thursday, February 1, 2019 at the Bradford Village West in Kernersville, N.C.

Jim was a Covington native and operated Alleghany Printing for decades.

He was an active member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

He moved to Roanoke and then to Kernersville, NC.

Jim was an excellent chess player, photographer, pressman and woodworker as well as a member of the MENSA organization. He was also a volunteer at the Taubman Museum in Roanoke.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; two children: Matt Bayly and Laura Utterback; and three grandchildren, Willow and Charlotte Bayly and Tabitha Utterback.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Alleghany Memorial Park in Low Moor.
