Harvey Marion VanBuren, Sr., age 81, of 1505 John Tyler Street, Selma, Virginia died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the home of his daughter in Roanoke.

He was born July 21, 1936 in Clifton Forge to the late John and Halsie Norvell VanBuren.

He was a retired conductor for CSX Transportation and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

He loved the relationship he had with his many friends and family throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores June Hayth VanBuren; a son, Harvey VanBuren, Jr.; two sisters, Ruth Hill and Elsie Knight; and two brothers, Johnnie VanBuren and Jimmy VanBuren.

He is survived by a daughter, Dolores Rae VanBuren of Roanoke; a brother, Tommy VanBuren and wife, Patty of Manassas; two grandchildren, Matthew Booze and Hollie Booze; three great grandchildren, Matthew Booze, Abigail Booze, and Maverick Webb; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Marty Hill.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Epworth United Methodist Church in Selma with Reverend Nathan Colwell officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the church.
