Hershall Eugene Godfrey, 40, of White Sulphur Springs, WV passed away on Tuesday February 20, 2018 at the Brian Center in Fincastle, VA.

Hershall was born December 5, 1977 in Ronceverte, the son of Odessa Mae Godfrey and Eugene A. Gooch, both of White Sulphur Springs.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Annie Godfrey; Jerome and Blanzetta Gooch. Aunts, Bernice Stone and Barbara Kemp; Uncles Ray Robinson and Norman Robinson.

He was a member of New Vision Baptist Church, loved to cook and had been a chef at the Sporting Club at the Greenbrier Hotel, was on the Deans list his last year at White Sulphur Springs Junior High and was a captain on the Greenbrier East High School during his playing days there.

Surviving Hershall other than his parents are his children, Micaela Reed of Ronceverte, Kylee Godfrey and Braylen Godfrey, both of White Sulphur Springs; his mother, Odessa Godfrey and his father, Eugene Gooch, both of White Sulphur Springs; half-sisters, Mary Elizabeth Beverly and Michelle Cooley; adopted sister, Akiva Martin; God brother, Stevie Damon; and four brothers in Detroit, MI., nephews Andre and Brandon Tolliver; aunts and uncles, Lloyd and Kathleen Robertson, Shirley Fowler, Catherine Cook, Margaret Taylor, Charlotte Gooch, Steward Godfrey, Frank Godfrey, Timothy Godfrey, Gillie Godfrey, Ellen Beverly, Charles Gooch, Robert Gooch, Dreama Cluver Tonita Stone, June Stone, Mike Stone, Sharon Stone, Wilbur Stone and Velzette Stone; cousins, Edna Gooch, Jasmine Sowell, Isisiah Godfrey, Chasity Crawford, Razhel Godfrey, Dominque Godfrey, Malcom Beverly, London Godfrey, Kizzy Damon, Natasha Mitchell, Tia Mattox, Camilla Aktinson and Alice Beverly and a slew of other family members.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 28, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center with Pastor Kathy Holland, Rev. Clayton Howard and Elder DeLawrence Godfrey officiating with interment to follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

The family will receive their friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the Civic Center or any time prior at the home of his mother Odessa Godfrey, 417 Ingleside Ave., White Sulphur Springs, WV.
