Obituary for Ralph Randolph Arehart Ralph Randolph Arehart
Lexington Resident Was Longtime Chesterfield County Police Department Employee

Ralph Randolph Arehart, 77, of Lexington, Virginia died peacefully Friday, February 23, 2018 at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital after battling cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Mabel Reese Arehart and Wallace L. Arehart; and his brother, Franklin Wilson Arehart.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Jane Whiteside Arehart and daughter, Valerie Dawn Arehart Abbott-McCune (Samuel), and his sisters, Barbara L. Arehart and Margaret Ann Arehart Byers (Jerry), and sister-in-law Lottie Arehart. He has two beloved granddaughters, Rebecca Sage and Rachel Jane Abbott-McCune.

He retired from Chesterfield County Police Department after 30 years and a devoted member of the Central Chesterfield County Ruritan Club. He and Jane traveled to Germany and South Korea, and throughout the U.S. to visit their daughter's family in the military.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Benjamin W. Dowling III officiating. Burial will follow at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lauderdale A. R. Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main St., Lexington, VA.
