Clifton Forge Native Dies At Age 62

Floyd Buddy Kelly, Jr., 62, of 337 E. Prospect Street, Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at his residence.

He was born September 5, 1955 in Clifton Forge, a son of the late Floyd B. Kelly, Sr. and Betty Sampson Kelly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant nephew, Julian Neal Brinkley, Jr. and cousin, Christopher Persinger.

Floyd was formerly employed by Burke, Parsons and Bowlby.

He enjoyed reading, collecting stamps and old coins and he had a love for history.

Surviving are four sisters, Melinda Munguia of Billings, MT, Betty Jean Bowen and Karl Bowen of Goshen, Deborah Brinkley of Millboro and Stephanie Mireles and her husband, Mauro of Covington; one brother, Charles Kelly of Staunton; nieces and nephews, Jessica Bowen, Kevin Bowen, Charles Kelly, Jr., Leeland Brinkley, Joshua Brinkley, Julie Brinkley, Afton Brinkley, Zackary Brinkley and Aimee Brinkley; two great nieces, Aizlyn and Thea Baker; an aunt, Barbara Anderson and a cousin, Michelle Rupert.

A service will be scheduled for a later date.

Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia is in charge of arrangements.
