Mildred Marie Taylor Carpenter, 98, of Covington, Virginia passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Brian Center Alleghany in Low Moor.

She was born September 18, 1919 in Pocahontas County, West Virginia at Frost, the daughter of the late Robert D. Taylor and Thelma Carpenter Taylor McCarty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Carpenter in 1988 and also by two daughters, Carol Ann Lipes and Frances Nicely.

Mildred had many friends at the Brian Center who called her "Millie". She will be missed by her family and her cat, Patches.

Surviving are her two daughters, Linda Hippert and husband, Richie Hippert Sr., and Gail Elson and her husband, Jeff, all of Covington; her son, Michael Carpenter, and his wife, Hilda, of Maryland; grandchildren, Debbie Markland, Tony Markland and his wife, Tina, Shirley Thompson and her husband, Mark; Richie Hippert, Jr.; Amanda Duckworth; Lisa Duckworth; James Duckworth; Allen Jerman; Angie Biggs and Lynette Lipes Lawhorn and her husband, Earl; Eric Carpenter, Maryetta Carpenter and Kim Carpenter; and a number of great and great great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Richie Hippert, Sr., Jeff Elson , Mark Thomson, Tony Markland, Richie Hippert, Jr., Troy D. Gillespie and Cheeze Smith.

The family will receive their friends Sunday evening, March 18, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
