Obituary for William Munder Goryl William Munder Goryl
Mechanical Engineer Was World War II, Korean War Veteran

William Munder Goryl (4/4/1924 - 3/17/2018) passed away on March 17, 2018, in the presence of his three children Steven, Bill and Nancy.

William was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Eyerly (1/21/1923 - 1/31/2002). They were married in Lakeland, Fla., on 1/17/1953.

He is also survived by daughter-in-law, Paule Crowley and his twin grandchildren, Stephanie and Spencer Goryl, and two nieces, Kathe and Nicole Gregory.

He was a 1944 graduate of Steven's Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering and entered the U.S. Naval Academy in 1945.

As an ensign he was assigned to the Pacific theatre until the Japanese surrender, and was called back into service in 1951 for the Korean Conflict on the USS O'Hare.

He began a 36-year career with the Exxon Research and Engineering group in 1946, and his family lived in Italy, France and England during his worldwide service. He loved his homes in New Jersey, Hilton Head, S.C., Blue Hill, Me., and Lexington.

Bill was an active skier, tennis player and sailor. He enjoyed building models of boats and aircraft and was an avid reader of history and science.

There will be no services. Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.
