Obituary for Patricia Carlyle Eubank Bates Patricia Carlyle Eubank Bates
Longtime Area Nurse Was Central United Methodist Church Member

Patricia Carlyle Eubank Bates, age 65, of 108 W. Pine Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

She was born February 2, 1953 in Clifton Forge to the late Robert Carlyle Eubank and Margaret Mays Eubank.

Pat was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School and Dabney S. Lancaster Community, where she graduated from the first nursing class in 1973. As a registered nurse for over 40 years at Alleghany Health and Rehabilitation, Clifton Forge, she retired as Assistant Director of Nursing.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and a life member and former treasurer and president of the Founders Auxiliary of the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Vi Nicely, and two uncles, Gordon Mays and Elwood Mays.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Welmar Bates, and two sons, Richard "Ricky" Bates and wife, Sheila, and Robert Michael Bates and wife, Amy, all of Clifton Forge; five grandchildren, Hayley Bates, Carlee Bates, Braylnn Bates, Landon Harold, and Ashleigh Pritt; three nieces, Debra Elbon and husband, Doug of Middleburg, FL, Donna Freels and husband, Jerry of Clifton Forge, and Diane Hanna and husband, David of Marion; several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and special family members, friends, and coworkers.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Lynn Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be James Davis, Robbie Dudley, Eddie Pritt, Donnie Peters, Chris Cahoon, and Chance Dobbs.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
