Baxter Healthcare Industry Worker Dies At Age 83

Edward Wayne (Buddy) Gibson, 83, of 321 E. Hawthorne Street, Covington, Virginia died Friday, April 6, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Gibson was March 29, 1935 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Marvin Gibson and Mary Gibson Meadows.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Gibsonm and J.W. Meadows; four sisters, Gaynelle Gibson Weese, Ruby Gibson Tawney, Cleva Gibson Sizemore, and Missy Gibson Grim; and a son, Ben Grimes.

Buddy worked in warehousing in the Baxter Healthcare Industry.

He was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed bingo, golf, scratch tickets, bowling, and what his family referred to as "his girlfriend", his computer.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Carlene Sharp Gibson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Gibson Glass and husband, Eugene "Blue"; Carla Harrah and her husband, Larry; a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin "Terry" Gibson and his wife, Cathi; a son, Brian Grimes, and his fiance, Staci Morehead; daughter-in- law, Lori Grimes Camp; grandchildren Lucas and Sarah Glass, Tina and Kevin Bevins, Chris and Britani Gibson, Edward Gibson, Erika Gibson, Erin and Jeremy Neely, Amber Grimes, Sean and Lindsay Streng, Sammy Brookman, and three grandchildren who were raised in his home, Jacob Grimes and Fiance, Meagan Jefferson, Cheyleen Christ and her husband, Kevin, and Katelynn Grimes; twenty great grandchildren, including raised in the home, Mercadez Ambler; one great great grandchild; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vance and Kathy Gibson, Marvin "Buzzy" Gibson and Shelby; brothers-in-law, Gerald Sizemore and Joe Grim; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members, including a special nephew, Clinton Phillips.

The funeral service will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.

The family received friends Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
