Lawrence Delano Powell, 73, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia died Friday, April 6, 2018 at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born November 29, 1944 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Thomas Owen Powell and Willie Ann Thomas Powell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Owen Powell Jr.; and a sister, Dorothy Powell Watkins.

Lawrence attended Glenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, and retired as a truck driver from Loughhead Building.

Surviving are his sister, Vivian P. Moore of Natural Bridge Station; nieces, Esther Ramsey (Jon) and Dolores Tomlin (Sam); nephew, Thomas Moore (Elizabeth); and special friends, Betty Brummer, Frances Snead and Greg Austin.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Pastor Terry Bostic and Rev. Carol Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 8.
