Warm Springs Native Was Longtime Central United Methodist Church Member

Polly Gray Doyle Monroe, age 80, widow of William J. (Bill) Monroe, of 1529 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at her residence.

She was born December 15, 1937 in Warm Springs, Virginia, a daughter of the late Raymond R. and Ethel Corbett Doyle of Bath County.

Polly worked for Westinghouse, Virginia Division of Frostery, Pizza Hut, and The Brian Center.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, which she loved very much. She also loved her family and helping anyone she could.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. "Bill" Monroe, and brother, Leo C. Doyle.

Surviving are her daughter, Kathryn Fitch and friend, Dickie Conner, grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Monroe, Charlie Simmons, Jonathan Fitch, Christopher Fitch, and great granddaughter, Paige Balser, all of Clifton Forge; a sister, Peggy Brinkley of Millboro; a sister-in-law, Willie Mae Doyle of Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Patsy Fairburn.

In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Central United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 16, Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422 or to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
