Obituary for Stanley Porter Stanley Porter
98 Year-Old Lexington Resident Was World War II Veteran

Stanley Porter, 98, of Lexington, Virginia died Wednesday, May 9, 2018.

He was born in Northbridge, Massachusetts in 1920.

In addition to his parents, Alexander Narplucka and Caroline Madie Narplucka, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Porter.

Stanley enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1940, served 30 years and retired in 1970. He advanced from seaman recruit to chief petty officer, then to warrant officer and ended his career as a lieutenant. During WWII he served in the South West Pacific.

Stanley was a member of the MOAA, FRA and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife of 75 years, Pauline Frederick Porter of Lexington; daughter, Sharyn Sexton, and son-in-law, Michael of Lexington; sister, Jean Pickett, of Braintree, Mass.; three grandchildren, Michael of Fairfield, Wayne, of Lovettsville, and Pauline Lewis of Greer, S.C.; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Father Joseph D'Aurora officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at Harrison Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Stanley's memory to the Lexington Rescue Squad.
