Obituary for Carl Kenneth Allen Carl Kenneth Allen
Buena Vista Resident Served In Korea, Vietnam

Carl Kenneth Allen, 84, of Buena Vista, Virginia went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 27, 2018.

He was born on June 6, 1933, in Buena Vista, the son of the late Samuel E. Allen and Cornelia Coffey Allen.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Marie Allen; brothers, Earl and Gary Allen; sisters, Mildred Marie Hartless and Elizabeth Jennings; grandson, Travis Q. Clark, Lexington; and great-grandson, Charles Forest Wright.

Carl is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles A. and Virginia Mae Clark, Lexington, Hugh L. and Rebekah H. Clark, Willow Spring, N.C., Blaine W. and Cynthia G. Staton, Buena Vista, and Ronald J. and Sara S. Staton, Forest; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Leigh Vance, Lexington, Barbara J. Cash, Waynesboro, Sue Ann and Terry Lee Strong, Lexington, and Dana C. and Jim O'Daniel, Buena Vista; brother, James Allen, Buena Vista; and sister, Elsie Montgomery, Buena Vista; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and very special friend, Derek Keiser.

Carl retired from the United States Army, where he served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He also devoted time to the Cub Scouts and other community activities. He was an active member of the Clifford Baptist Church in Clifford.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Fitzgerald conducting the service. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the funeral home.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the organization of your choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
