Obituary for Stanford Joseph Wolfe Stanford Joseph Wolfe
Alleghany County Native Was Korean War Veteran

Stanford Joseph Wolfe, 87, of 107 Parsonage Lane, Covington, Virginia died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his residence.

He was born May 23, 1931 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Leffel Bud Wolfe and Dora Jamison Wolfe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jay Wolfe in 2002; his step-mother, Julia Tingler Wolfe; five brothers, Berlin Wolfe, Page Wolfe, Paris Wolfe, Grover Wolfe and Gerald Wolfe and two sisters, Ruby Tingler and Izetta Nida.

He was a veteran of the Korean War with the U. S. Army.

He retired in 2000 from the Alleghany County School Board Maintenance Department after 42 years of service. He was a longtime member of Highland Chapel Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lockhart Wolfe of Covington; his son and daughter-in-law, Darel and Sherry Wolfe of Covington; two grandchildren, Jeannie Adkins and her husband, Alan of Covington and Derrick Wolfe of Covington; two great grandchildren, Shanna Adkins and Ashlynn Wolfe; two sisters, Leola Wright of Hampton and Verlie Wilhelm of Clifton Forge; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. J. B. Broughman officiating.

Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Derrick Wolfe, Alan Adkins, Mark Nida, Eddie Freeman, Gerald Lockhart and Wayne Perkins.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home.
