Former Homestead Shooting Club Manager, Instructor Dies At Age 87

James (Jimmy) Edward Cauley, 87, of Warm Springs, Virginia died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at The Springs Nursing Center.

He was born June 22, 1931 in Bath County, the son of the late Arthur Brown Cauley and Louella Virginia Lockridge McFadden.

He was raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cauley in Thomastown.

Jimmy was formerly employed as a shooting club manager and instructor at the Homestead Resort for 66 years, and was loved by fellow employees and guests alike. Guests often requested him and still to this day ask how he is doing.

He enjoyed talking to people and never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, whom he married on August 7, 1953 in Washington, D.C., Lois Jane Chestnut Cauley, P. O. Box 102, Hot Springs, Virginia 24445; daughter, Debbie Cauley Jenkins and husband, Ray; grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Jenkins, Jessica Rucker; great grandchildren, Carter Rucker, Jadea and Zoey Jenkins; brothers, Arthur B. Cauley, Jr. and wife, Joan; David Marvin Cauley and wife, Shirley; half-sisters: Mary Harold and husband, Randy, Roberta Gail Castillo; numerous nieces and nephews; a devoted first cousin, Nell Carpenter; and a special companion, Buster.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2018 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gillispie, Carl Chestnut, Berlie Chestnut, David Chestnut, Freddie Harold, and Trey Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Chestnut, Tom Moore, and Rick Turbeyville.

The family will receive friends one hour before at the funeral home.
