Virginia Price Woods, 81, died peacefully at her home in Lexington, Virginia on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 surrounded by her family, music, flowers and fragrance.

She was born on March 13, 1937 in Craig County, Virginia and graduated from Longwood College with a bachelor of science in elementary education in 1959. She was a teacher for more than 40 years in Wytheville, Roanoke County, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County schools, retiring in 1999. After retirement she volunteered in numerous capacities in various local schools.

She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lexington over four decades, faithfully performing many duties as the chairman of the Music and Worship Committee.

She was the last surviving member of the Howard Orin Price family, having been preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are three daughters, Laura Thomas and husband, Billy of Glasgow, Liza Woods and husband, Dave Mende of Kissimmee, Fla., and Lee Tripp and husband, Mike of Staunton; three grandchildren, Dillon Thomas, Hannah Thomas and Abigail Trip; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all dearly loved.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
