Obituary for Ronald Adam Liggins Ronald Adam Liggins
Clifton Forge Native Was Army Special, Longtime U. S. Postal Carrier

Ronald Adam Liggins, age 70, of 3769 Green Spring Ave, Roanoke, Virginia and formerly of Covington, died Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem, Virginia.

He was born October 4, 1947 in Clifton Forge to the late Samuel and Beatrice Jackson Liggins.

He was a specialist in the United States Army, who served in Germany. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 33 years, was a former member of the High Street Baptist Church in Roanoke, where he was "man of the year" and helped with meals on wheels.

Ronald loved bowling, football, basketball and Jazz music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Liggins Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, LaSandra R. Liggins of Roanoke; a son, Ronald A. Liggins Jr. (Jamie) of Louisiana; a sister, Anna MacIntosh (Richard) of California; three brothers, Edward Liggins (Daisy), Arthur L. Liggins (Eloise), and David Liggins, all of California; special caregiver, Betty Liggins of Roanoke; extended family, Evelyn Broady and family, the Key, Pierce, and Allen family; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge, with Elder Randy Jackson and Reverend Roslyn Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 3959 Electric Road, Suite 357, Roanoke, Virginia 24018.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
