Glen Wilton Native Was Retired Payroll Accountant

Antonia (Tony) Brugh Wood McCoy, age 81, of 52 Woodtown Road, Glen Wilton, Virginia died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at her residence.

She was born January 20, 1937 in Glen Wilton to the late Arthur Morton Wood and Marian Ella Honts Wood.

She was a graduate of National Business College and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, and was a retired payroll accountant for Hercules and A.E.T. of Covington.

She was a member of Glen Wilton Presbyterian Church, where she served as treasurer and historian, and the Peaks Presbyterian Pilgrimage. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), the Botetourt County Historical Society, and served as secretary of Locust Bottom Cemetery Association.

Tony loved following her grandchildren throughout their activities in James River High School sports and in Opelika High School theatre productions and competitions.

In addition to her parents, Tony was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Sue Wood Funkhouser.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynn McCoy Bailey and husband, Barry of Opelika, AL, and Diane McCoy Buchanan and husband, Buddy of Glen Wilton; a sister, Lucy Wood Lomasney of Florida; six grandchildren, Bobby Buchanan and wife, Elizabeth, Michael Buchanan, Bryan Buchanan, Matthew Bailey and wife, Lauren, Jacob Bailey, and Rachel Bailey; a great grandson, Samuel Bailey; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Grace Mundy of Buchanan.

The family would like to acknowledge the genuine and professional care given to Tony by staff of Mountain Regional Hospice and all of her loyal sitters.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Robert McRae and Reverend Marina Gopadze officiating. Interment will follow in Wood Cemetery, Glen Wilton.

Pallbearers will be Charles Lomasney, Eddie Funkhouser, David Funkhouser, Willy Funkhouser, Andy Funkhouser, Steve Funkhouser, and John Funkhouser. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
