Obituary for Paul Edward Hoover Paul Edward Hoover
Served In The Korean War, Christ United Methodist Church Member

Paul Edward Hoover, 85, of 2513 Jackson River Road, Covington, Virginia passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born June 7, 1933 in Bath County, a son of the late George Price Hoover and Laura Maude Brinkley Hoover.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters.

Mr. Hoover served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War.

He retired in 1995 from the former Hercules, Inc. and was the Care Taker of the Nettleton Estate for over 30 years. He was a member of Christ United United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Erna Layton Hoover, of Covington; four daughters, Donna Ward and her husband, Billy, and Cindy Givens, Dreama Jenkins and her husband, Bink, and Paula Boone and her husband, Chris, all of Covington; eight grandchildren, Marcie Hoy, Ryan Jenkins, Michael Boone, Cody Jenkins, Megan Ward, Brittany Jordan, Haley Harris and Patrick Ward; 10 great grandchildren, Donovan Givens, Cole Hoy, River Jenkins, Wren Jenkins, Quinten Harris, Melody Boone, Dillion Boone, Lacey Boone, Alaina Jordan and Josiah Jordon; several nieces and nephews, including Mike Hoover who was raised in the home.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Snider officiating, assisted by the Rev. Debra Washer.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive their friends one hour prior to service time on Saturday.
