Dessie Higgins Hartbarger, 93, of Lexington, Virginia died Monday, July 30, 2018 at Fox Trail Assisted Living in Manassas.

Born November 6, 1924 in Lexington, she was a daughter of James Edward Higgins and Lottie Hostetter Higgins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Obenshain Hartbarger Sr.

Surviving are her children, Claude Hartbarger Jr., Gregory Hartbarger and Dexter Hartbarger; sisters, Mary Ellen Hostetter of Lexington and Anna Rhodes Engleman of Fairfield; and 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted at Harrison Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 by the Rev. George Warden. Burial followed at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Harrison Funeral Home.
