Obituary for David (Dave) Tyree David (Dave) Tyree
Lynchburg Native Was Manager Of Electrical Projects

David (Dave) Tyree, age 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home in Bonsack, Virginia, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on December 13, 1946 to the late Frank L. Jr. and Louise (Oliver) Tyree, and he grew up in Amherst County.

He was a 1966 graduate of Amherst County High School and a 1970 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Dave married Stephanie (Payne) Tyree on September 7, 1968, and together they raised four wonderful children.

After a long career managing commercial electrical projects in Virginia and Washington, DC, he retired from Varney Electrical Services as Chief Operating Officer.

Dave never met a problem he couldn't solve, and he had a unique ability to fix things. When he wasn't in his workshop, he enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing, and never had a bad day at the lake even if the fish weren't biting. More than anything, he loved being a grandad to his seven grandchildren, whom he adored and doted on.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Stephanie; four children and their spouses, along with seven grandchildren, Chris (Melanie) Tyree and son, (Jack) of Crozet, Sam (Lisa) Tyree and son, (Max), and daughter, (Mia) of Charlottesville, Ross (Kirsten) Tyree and sons, (Pehr and Luca) of Richmond, and Ashley Tyree Morales and daughter, (Lula) and son, (Sully) of Riner; brother, Leslie (Barbara) Tyree of Nags Head, North Carolina; aunt, Joyce Austin of Madison Heights; and numerous cousins.

Dave's life will be celebrated by friends and family at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, Virginia, with family visitation on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and a memorial service on Friday, September 7 at 4:00 p.m.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke, Virginia for their loving care of Dave during his illness. Friends and family wishing to honor Dave's memory through donation should consider this wonderful non-profit organization.
