Obituary for James C. (Jim) Baker, Sr. James C. (Jim) Baker, Sr.
WestRock Retiree Was New Hope Baptist Church Member

James C. (Jim) Baker, Sr., 75, 1325 N. Alleghany Ave., Covington, Virginia died Friday August 31, 2018 at the English Meadows Elks Home in Bedford.

He was born May 28, 1943 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Ohmar and Lizzie Smith Baker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by six brothers and sisters.

Mr. Baker retired from the Power House at Westrock after 43 years of service.

Jim was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

He was an avid bowler, loved hunting and camping and was a member of the Ponderosa Hunt Club.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Watts Baker of Covington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Jackie Baker of Covington; Mark and Becky Baker of Roanoke; Jimmy and Ellen Baker of Williamsburg; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry Daniels officiating, assisted by the Rev. Lloyd Camp.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Arritt Funeral Home and at other times at the family home at 1325 N. Alleghany Ave., Covington, VA 24426.

Memorial denotations in Mr. Baker's name may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 1403 D. Dee Street, Covington, VA 24426.

Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Arritt Funeral Home.
