Betty Britt Lester, 79, of Eagle Rock, Virginia passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Betty was born in Eagle Rock, Virginia on May 22, 1939 and lived there all of her life.

She was daughter of the late Lawrence (Buck) and Cottie Britt.

Betty retired from Botetourt County Public School System as a bus driver after 25 years. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and loved working in her flowers, playing bingo, and attending her high school class dinners.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her nephew, Tommy Britt.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Cleatis E. Lester; children, Teresa (James) Morris of Vinton and Ronnie (Teresa) Lester of Eagle Rock; grandchildren, Sasha Scott, Kelsey (Michael) Hylton, Amber and Chase Lester; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Braelyn, and Kinley Scott, Baylee and Turner Hylton; siblings, Donald (Sara) Britt, Bonnie Britt, Gary (Sharon) Britt, Patti Coffey; and brother-in-law, Calvin (Cynthia) Lester; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Betty's family offers a special thanks to the staff at Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Donna and Mary Luz.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville, Virginia with Preacher Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Eagle Rock. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the funeral beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018.
