Thomas Eugene Powell, 75, of Fincastle, Va., passed away August 31, 2018.

He was reborn into the heavenly family in 1961 through his faith in Christ's blood applied to his sins.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Velma Barger Powell; three children, Ricky Wayne Powell(Janet of Mooresville, N.C.), Cynthia Kaye Zuberer of Louisville, Ky., and Philip Ray Powell(Holly of Roanoke, Va.); and eleven very special grandchildren, Jonathan(Erica), Ashleigh, Grayson, Taylor, Ashlyn, Peyton, Andalyn, Kinsleigh, Reese, Chase and Josiah.

He was preceeded in death by his mother, Beulah Clark, and sister, Wanda White. Also surviving are stepdad, Ralph M. Clark; and brother, Darel Clark (Wendi).

He was a faithful servant at Shenandoah Baptist Church, Roanoke, Virginia for 31 years and of Botetourt Community Church, Daleville, Va. for the past four years.

Visitation to be held 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2018 at Simpson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Eagle Rock, Va.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Missions Fund at Botetourt Community Church. Psalms 118:8 "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man." Jeremiah 17:7 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord."
