Hot Springs Native Was Former Cook At The Lower Cascades Golf Course

Mary Margaret Fry Keyser Smith, 82, of Covington, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Alleghany Health & Rehab in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

She was born February 25, 1936 in Hot Springs, the daughter of the late George Given Fry and Lottie Frances Woodzell Fry.

Mrs. Smith was employed at the Lower Cascades Golf Course as a cook until she retired with over 30 years of service.

She formerly attended Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was married to Charles Lindy Keyser, who preceded her in death on January 8, 1989 and Gary Wayne Smith, who preceded her in death on August 22, 2017.

She is survived by two children, Beverly Jones and husband, David of Fishersville, Virginia and Ronnie Keyser and wife, Donna of Covington, Virginia; seven granddaughters; thirteen great grandchildren; and a half-sister; Ethel McElwee of Bridgewater, Virginia.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Keyser; a brother, Billy Fry; a sister, Betty Rodgers; three half-sisters, Edith Jenkins, Hazel Shaffier and Kathleen Urban.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Lorrie Aikens, officiating and Johnny Woodzell, assisting. Interment will be in Warm Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Jones, Eddie McElwee, Troy Davis, Keith McElwee and Kenny Woodzell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
