Betty Reed Smith, 88, of Lexington, Virginia died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Heritage Hall.

Born December 9, 1929 in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Maynard Manville Reed and Cynthia Lester Reed.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Janet Karen Smith.

Betty was a past member of the Lexington Ladies Moose Lodge, where she received a College of Regents Degree.

Surviving are her husband, Ward Taswell Smith; son, Steven Ward Smith and wife, Janet; grandchildren, Jeremy Steven Goad and wife, Terri of Daleville, Tracy Goad Bond and husband, Jeff of Lexington, and A.J. Smith, of Austin, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Campbell Davis Bond, Parker Ward Goad and Avery Addison Goad.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. W. David Bain officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
