Self-Employed Cabinet Maker Was White Sulphur Springs Resident

Richard Rowe Cross, 81, of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Peyton Hospice House.

Born April 28, 1937 at Elkins, WV, he was a son of the late Porter and Minnie Rowe Cross and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Richard was a self-employed cabinet maker, avid golfer, rabbit hunter, was a rescuer of many kittens and owner of the Pocahontas Archery Manufacturing of White Sulphur Springs.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his only son, Richard R. "Rickie" Cross, Jr.; three sisters, Loretta Taylor, Susie Showmoe and Pee Dee Purdett; and three brothers, Donald, Jack and Randall Cross.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Spinks Cross, a special friend, Jimmy Huffman; several nieces and nephews, including special niece and nephews, Shawn Shrader, and Steven and Sally Cross.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, with Pastor Lowell O'Dell and Pastor Stewart Farley officiating. Interment will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg. The family will be gathering following the graveside service at Rhema Christian Center in Fairlea for a meal.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Greenbrier County Humane Society or Peyton Hospice House.
