Augusta County Native Was Active In Her Community

Bertha Clayton Campbell (Pat) Hall Knick, 84, of Buena Vista, Virginia peacefully went to be with the Lord Friday, October 5, 2018.

Born March 17, 1934 in West Augusta County, the daughter of the late William Campbell and Drucy Bright Campbell and her adoptive parents William and Esta Hall.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Alfred Campbell, Marie Hall Knick, Buddy Hall; nephew, Larry Knick; and a niece Cheryl Ann Knick.

(Pat) grew up surrounded by the mountains and farms of Rockbridge County. She was proud of her native roots and heritage. Impassioned to teach since a young girl, she attended Southern Seminary two years, then graduated with a bachelor degree from Madison College in 1975. She immediately launched into the Rockbridge County School system, but five years later returned to her alma mater to earn a masters degree to help further her lifelong dream.

From the age of 36, she invested the next twenty five years to complete her special calling to teach. (Pat) didn't relax her servant-spirit in retirement. She used the time to opportunity to give back to her family, church, and community.

Among her services were, Pollster in Buena Vista, Piano Instructor, Paxton House Restoration Advocate, President of the Rockbridge Education Association, Charter Member, Historian, Special Events Volunteer and Instrumentalist for Lexington Baptist Church, Nursing Home Minister of Music and Faithful Contributor to any good and worthy cause.

She built a legacy as a loving mother, devoted wife, dependable friend, avid reader, skilled artist, and strong activist for humane missions and conservation.

(Pat) was well known and appreciated for her interest in and commitment to God, family, and others. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Edward Paige Knick; children and their spouses or significant others, Donny Knick and close friend, Cathy Wiseman, David and Sandra Knick, Darryl and Linda Knick; five grandchildren, and their spouses or significant others, Anthony and Andrea Eshaghi, Ashley and Matt Barnette, Patrick Knick and fiance, Devon King, Stephanie and Stephen Ross, Christie and Eric Seaman; nine great-greatchildren, Lauren, Jenna, and Melanie Ross, Eden, Evelyn and Abram Eshaghi, Kristin and Tyler Barnette and Ryan Seaman; sister-in-law, Patricia Miller Hall; special friends, Dennis Mallory and Donna Morgan (who was like a daughter); countless devoted and loving nieces and nephews and their spouses, Donna and Mike Young, Dean and Gloria Knick, Jimmy and Debbie Knick, Becky Knick, Gerald and Patti Knick, Diane and Bobby Hill, Billy Hall, Clifford and Mary Hall, Barbara and Andy Hunter, Blair and Ruth Hall, Lisa and Burr Datz.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at Lexington Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael L. Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at New Monmouth Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Home.
