Robert Wayne Ayers, 82, of Lexington, Virginia died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at his home.

Born May 30, 1936 in Covington, he was the son of the late James Melville Ayers and Alma Clements Ayers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James B. Ayers and Donald E. Ayers.

Surviving are his wife, Emily Pugh Ayers; brother, Ronald Ayers (Lois); sisters, Sandra Ayers Rhodes (Dale), and Janet Ayers Carter; and nieces and nephews.

There will be no funeral service and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450 or a charity of choice.
