Collierstown Resident Dies At Age 16

Life should be spent with good friends having great adventures, this is how Jamie lived her life to the fullest. Jamie Grayce Martin, 16, of Collierstown, Virginia died Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Born January 5, 2002, she was a daughter of John Alan Martin Jr. and Shelley Moore Martin.

Jamie was preceded in death by paternal great-grandfather, John Tate Martin, and maternal great-grandparents, James William Allen Brown and Norma Grey Brown.

Jamie was a junior at Rockbridge County High School, and attended Collierstown Presbyterian Church. Along with school, Jamie was a dietary aide at Kendal.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Morgan Tate Martin; paternal grandparents, John and Pam Martin; paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Morris Martin, all of Collierstown; maternal grandparents, Betty Brown Moore and significant other, Kevin Dudley, Charlie and Sandy Moore; grandfather figure, Brownie McGee; aunts, Laura Shafer (Jason), Kathy Mayo (Dusty) and Erica Martin; uncle, David Martin; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her extended family; her best friend, Miranda Hamilton; and her special teacher and mentor, Ms. Lisa Martin. Jamie is also survived by her special canine friend, Rosie.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2018 at Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery by Pastor Kevin Channel. Friends may gather with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 21 at Harrison Funeral Home.

To honor Jamie's love of animals, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Rockbridge Area SPCA, 10 Animal Place, Lexington, VA 24450.
