Edward Lewis Winn Jr. of Buena Vista, Virginia, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior at age 84 on Friday, October 19, 2018.

He passed peacefully in his home with his family by his side.

Born in Richmond to the late Edward L. Winn, Sr. and Bessie A. Winn, he was preceded in death by his loving of wife of 56 years, Alice Mae Winn, and a brother, Richard G. Winn.

Lewis is survived by his two daughters, Myrica Keiser and husband, Stockton, Cynthia Humphreys and husband, Clay, all of Buena Vista; two sisters, LaVerne Taylor and husband, Al, and Alice Phillips, all of Richmond; two brothers, Gordon Winn of New Canton, Mike Winn and wife, Marie of Goochland; two grandchildren, Michelle Keiser Jones and husband, Joshua of Lexington, Derek Keiser and wife, Kristy of Amherst; two great-grandchildren, Thomas Jones and Raegan Keiser; and sister-in-law, Linda Inge and husband, Tommy of Hampton. Lewis was also blessed with an extended family including numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, his "AMP" daughter, Judy Hankins and his special "Kenny's" friends.

Lewis worked for Reeves Brothers and AMP before retiring in 1996. Throughout the years his greatest joy was being with his wife on their many vacation adventures.

He enjoyed fishing, working on computers, camping, and spending time with his family – especially with his great-grandchildren. Lewis was a talented craftsman who loved custom woodworking projects. He left no wall untouched as he remodeled his entire home. Lewis had a passion for listening and playing country and bluegrass music, especially on the banjo that he made himself. Throughout Lewis' life he could often be found in his garage or with his head under the hood of a car. He always enjoyed tinkering and rebuilding cars including his last project, the El Camino.

He was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, where he once served as a Trustee, on the Steward Commission and helped to install and fabricate the audio/visual system in the church sanctuary. He was a dedicated and faithful member for many years.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to their Rockbridge Area Hospice family – Sue, Liz, Ali, Susie, Terry, Holly and Butch. A special gratitude for the loving care, kindness and support provided by Elizabeth Kosmas, N.P.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Stone Church of the Brethren in Buena Vista. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request for donations to be made to either the Stone Church of the Brethren or to Rockbridge Area Hospice.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Gross & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
