Sylvia Arlene Dudley Gibson, 92, of Charlottesville, Virginia died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Charlottesville Health and Rehab.

She was born December 25, 1925 in Charlottesville, a daughter of Hunter Samuel Dudley and Lelia Ladd Dudley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Yarbro Gibson; her beloved son, Craig Steven Gibson; sisters, Martha Elizabeth Liggon, Margaret L. Gambrell and Katherine A. Omohundro; and a brother, James Fulton Dudley.

Sylvia was a member of the Lexington Baptist Church and was a retired dietician with Virginia Military Institute.

Surviving her are eight nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews and also great- great nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Michael Saunders. Burial was private in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

Sylvia understood the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.
