Alleghany County Native Was Homestead Doctor's Office Assistant

Nancy Sue Huffman McLaughlin, 70, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.

She was born February 23, 1948 in Alleghany County, Virginia, the daughter of the late William Andrew "Andy" Huffman and Lovie Loretta Rucker Huffman.

Nancy worked as an assistant in the Homestead Doctor's Office as a nurse, secretary or whatever needed to be done.

She was a active member of the Hot Springs Garden Club, the Audubon Club and the Women's Auxiliary for the Hot Springs Fire & Rescue. Nancy enjoyed her flower garden and raised some of the most beautiful flowers in the area. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Holmes Cavet "Buddy" McLaughlin of Hot Springs; two children, James Cavet "JC" McLaughlin of Hot Springs, Lori Crist and husband, Steven of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, Trevor Austin McLaughlin Farren Elizabeth Crist and Brady Kellan Crist; step-grandchildren Hannah Groves, Evan Groves and Chyanne McCoy.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Ann Huffman Clarke.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Neff officiating.

Interment will be in their private family cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Spurgeon, P. Y. Henry, Donnie Michael, Stevie Hodge, Kim Brown Alexander, Leroy Jones and Dr. David Wheeler.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
