James Edward Burch, Jr., 70, of Buena Vista, Virginia passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 27, 1948 in Buena Vista.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward Burch Sr. and Margaret Louise Armstrong Burch; a sister, Linda Carole Venable and a brother, Steven Wayne Burch.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Patricia Slagle Burch; children, Lisa Burch Paraska (Rich), Joshua James Burch (Tammy), Emily Burch Shafer (Jordon); 11 grandchildren, Zachary Burch (Alyson), Brett Burch, Taylor Burch, Holden Fellows, Lauren Fellows, Kayleigh Shafer, Aleigh Shafer, Macy Shafer, Allison Lotts, and Augusta Lotts; one great grandchild, PawPaw's special buddy, Brayden Burch; mother-in-law, Betty Slagle, brothers-in-law, William Slagle and George Slagle; many special friends and very close friend, Jimmy Davis.

Jimmy was a Sergeant with the United States Army, served three years in Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was a retired general contractor of 42 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Dean Staton. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home.
