Obituary for William (Billy) Vaiden Burns William (Billy) Vaiden Burns
U. S. Navy Veteran Was Bolar Native, Devoted UVA Fan

William (Billy) Vaiden Burns, age 78, of Covington, Virginia went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Salem, VA Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of the late William A. Burns and Ava Jackson Burns and was raised in Bolar, Virginia, which he visited often with his twins.

He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Mona McElwee and Wilma Lipscomb; and grandson, Bradley Vaiden Haynes.

Billy was a devoted Christian, who loved God and his family. He was also a devoted UVA fan, he served his country in the U. S. Navy and was a proud veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol D. Burns; his children, Wanda Haynes (Earl), Vickie Smith (Steve), Billie Gibson (Rob), Betty Leitch (George), Randy Burns (Amanda), and our special sister, Lisa Huffman; grandchildren, Joey Deaner, Junior Hiner (Brooke), Hannah Leitch, Ryan Burns, Matt Smith (Jennifer), Ethan Smith (Sarah), Jessi Wagnor (Tim), Kamden Burns and his mother, Amanda Morris, Lilly Burns, Drew Burns; great-grandchildren, Matt Tench, Natalie Haynes, Emily Haynes, Travis Hicks, Jayden Hiner, Catie Lipes, Harper Smith; two sisters, Nellie Miller of Virginia Beach and Linda Hambrick of Fincastle.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 at Covington First Church of the Nazarene, 126 E. Locust Street, Covington, Virginia with Pastors Sonny Wiseman and Ethan Smith officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in Union Chapel Cemetery, 1974 Sam Snead Highway (Route 220), Hot Springs, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 25th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the church and other times at the residence of his daughter, Billie Gibson, 1544 S. Franklin Avenue, Covington, Virginia.
