Rockbridge County Native Dies At Age 95

Bertha Moore Hostetter, 95, of Lexington, Virginia died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Kendal.

She was born August 26, 1923 in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Gary D. Moore and Nancy Reid Moore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Whitmore Hostetter; daughter, Betsy Floyd; brother, Gary D. Moore Jr.; and son-in-law, Elmer C. Knick.

Bertha was a member of the Ebenezer A. R. Presbyterian Church.

She was a very devoted mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her children, Patricia H. Knick and Phyllis H. Lineberry (Ronald); five grandchildren, Brian Floyd, Cindy Stipp (Jerry), Tammy Conner (Mike), Shon Knick (Cameron) and Chris Lineberry; and great-grandchildren Sarah, Caitlin, Camden, Kaila, Eden, Courtney, Clinton, Emma and step-great-grandchild; Makaila; two great-great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carleigh; son-in-law, Roy L. Floyd; and sisters-in-law, Loreane Barger and Annie Hostetter.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Bill Harris and the Rev. Jim Giles. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Chapel.
