Obituary for Peggy Lou Wright Peggy Lou Wright
Retired Rockbridge County Teacher Was Animal Lover, Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church Member

Peggy Lou Wright, 79, of 50 Bee Farm Lane, Buena Vista, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

She was born July 31, 1939 in Buena Vista, the daughter of Robert L. Jones and Myrtle Slagle Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sidney David Jones, and two sisters, Audrey Southers and Mary Ann Wheeler.

Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Claude N. Wright; son, Everette (Jake) Carter of Buena Vista; daugher, Michelle Carter Irvine of Stuarts Draft; granddaughter, Brittany (Holly) Carter of Buena Vista; twin sister, Patsy Thomas of Fairfield; sisters, Romalda Smith and Carolyn Herring of Buena Vista; sister, Rebecca Anurca of Jacksonville, Fla.; stepson, Ronald Wright of South Buffalo; step-daughter, Bonnie Cooper of McDowell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy graduated from Parry McCluer High School and received her bachelor's degree from Mary Baldwin University. She was a member of the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Peggy had a calling to teach later in her career and she retired as a school teacher with the Rockbridge County School system.

Peggy had a passion for helping animals, especially feral cats, and she worked with Cats Unlimited and local veterinarians to spay/neuter as many in the neighborhood colonies as she could, as well as providing food and shelter, and helping the sick ones.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home Chapel in Buena Vista by the Rev. David Bain and the Rev. Adam Williams. Burial followed at Green Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Legacy Hospice for their care during Peggy's illness.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
