Obituary for Dick Cayo Dick Cayo
U. S. Navy Veteran Worked With Union Camp Paper Co.

Dick Cayo passed away November 26, 2018 following a brief illness.

He was born in Kingsford, Michigan to Homer and Lillian Cayo on March 20, 1934 and graduated from Kingsford High School, where he was the senior class president.

Dick joined the U. S. Navy in 1952 and served proudly for 21 years, retiring as a Master Chief. He went on to work for Union Camp Paper for 20 years.

In 1956, he married the love of his life, Joan Gross.

Dick was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lexington, Virginia and was a Fourth Degree Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by two brothers, Eugene and James Cayo.

He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Joan G. Cayo; a sister, Joyce C. Condos (Dean) of Federal Way, Wash.; brother, Kenneth Cayo of White City, Ore.; daughter, Denise Henning (Bruce) of Norfolk; son, Mark Cayo (Kay) of Virginia Beach; six grandsons, Bruce (Erinn), Christopher (Stephanie), Robert (Lynsey), Stephen (Emily), Bradley (Elizabeth), and John (Stacey); five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his family, Dick loved being outdoors hunting, fishing and golfing, as well as bowling.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's at 11 a.m. on January 5, 2019. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Rockbridge Area Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lexington or the American Cancer Society.
