Former Alleghany County Sheriff's Office Secretary Dies At Age 75

Sue Ann Swoope Wolfe, age 75, of 1818 Potts Creek Road, Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at her residence.

She was born October 15, 1943 in Clifton Forge to the late Maxwell Winfred and Geneva Knick Swoope.

She was secretary for the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office for over thirty years.

She enjoyed painting, and spending time with friends, and especially her family. She was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty five years, Lawrence David Wolfe, Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Christie Ford and husband, Jeff of Hot Springs and Sherrie Gann and husband, Andy of Covington; a son, Lawrence D. Wolfe, III and wife, Tonya of Selma; two sisters, Betty Angell and Tracy Crawford and husband, Calvin, both of Covington; a brother, Maxwell Swoope, Jr. and wife, Dana of Covington; six grandchildren, Jerry Rice and wife, Angela, Drew Gann and wife, Russie, Jailyn Ford, Jordan Ford, Jonah Ford, and Hunter Wolfe; and two great grandchildren, Laney and Tyler Rice.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Lone Star Cemetery, Covington, with Reverend Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no formal visitation.
