Grace Episcopal Church Member Was Longtime Claims Adjuster

Roland Guest Stetler Jr., 86, of Lexington, Virginia died peacefully Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home.

He was born March 13, 1932 in Champagne, Ill., a son of the late Roland Guest Stetler and Mary Julia Rucker Stetler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Roland Guest Stetler III.

He was a practicing member of Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington.

Roland received his bachelor's of business administration from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss., and practiced claims adjusting for many years. He then retired as a vice president and manager of The Tennessee Company in Memphis, Tennessee.

Roland was an avid scuba diver and experienced diving all over the world, including the Red Sea, the southern Pacific Islands, and the Caribbean Sea. He had a passion for rock collecting and an enjoyment of nature in all ways. He belonged to the Shenandoah Valley Gem and Mineral Society. He was an avid camper trailer traveler and photographer, both above and below water level. He also belonged to the Lexington Bridge Club. Later in his life, Roland began to deliver Meals on Wheels in the Lexington area.

Roland is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diana Kenney and two daughters, Mary Virginia Haley (Richard) and Carrie Lee Stetler.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Grace Episcopal Church by Father James Hubbard officiating. Interment will be private at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 123 W. Washington Street, Lexington, VA. 24450 or Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.
