Howard Franklin Browning, Sr., 94, of Springs Nursing Center, Hot Springs, Virginia died Sunday, December 23, 2018. He was born September 11, 1924 in Alleghany County, a son of the late John Henry Browning and Eathie Gaines.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Browning was a retired, self-employed timber cutter.

Surviving are his son, Howard F. Browning, Jr., and his wife, Wendy of Covington; eleven grandchildren, Ginger Browning, Frankie Browning, Misty Browning, Mark Browning, Ashley Browning, John Browning, Jesse Browning, Angel Browning, Bubbie Browning, Cheyenne Browning and R. J. Browning, all of Covington; three great grandchildren, Korbin Browning, Nevaeh Browning and Mason Browning, all of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside in Lone Star Cemetery.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
