Obituary for William (Billy) Earnst Edwards William (Billy) Earnst Edwards
Staunton Native Served As Goshen Mayor, Rockbridge Supervisor; Owned Edwards Convenience Store

William (Billy) Earnst Edwards, 80, of Goshen, Virginia went to be with the Lord December 25, 2018.

He was born March 10, 1938 in Staunton, the only son of the late Laymond "Doug" and Alice Edwards.

Billy was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1958 to 1963. In 1965 he was married to Leonia "Lee" Mae Edwards and they celebrated 45 years of marriage until her passing in 2010.

Billy loved his community and was proud to serve as mayor of Goshen as well as a Rockbridge County supervisor for 12 years. He also enjoyed talking with all the customers that came through Edwards' convenience store that he owned and operated for over four decades. You could find him any given day reminiscing about the good 'ole days with lifelong friends that would stop by for a visit.

Billy is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Tolley, Lorraine Edwards and Wanda Cook and husband, Todd; along with his three children: son, Eddie Edwards and wife, Lisa, and daughters, Scarlett Skeens and Cheryl Chandler.

In addition to his children, Billy enjoyed his six grandchildren, Amber Paulus and husband Brandon, Ashley Herrinton and husband, Tyler, expecting their first child in the spring, Deanna Earhart, Emily Thornton, William Chandler and Sarah Skeens. Billy was proud to be a great-grandfather to four: Christian, Kaden, Bryson, Nova and expecting a Herrinton great-grandchild in the spring.

The family would like to thank the community of Goshen for their continued prayers and support over the years. In addition, our sincerest thanks to the Staunton Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) for your guidance and relentless support as we brought our loved one home. Special thanks to Rhonda and Kayla from CBOC for going above and beyond for our dad.

The family will receive friends and family at Craigsville Funeral Home in Craigsville, VA on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 6 p.m.

A funeral service in celebration of Billy's life will be held at Goshen Baptist Church in Goshen on Friday, December 28 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Goshen Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goshen First Aid or Goshen Volunteer Fire Department.
