Obituary for George Harrington (Jobo) Grose George Harrington (Jobo) Grose
Hot Springs Native Was Homestead Retiree

George Harrington (Jobo) Grose, 76, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his residence.

He was born October 8, 1942 in Hot Springs, the son of the late Carl Oliver Grose and Margaret Helen Thomas Grose.

"Jobo" retired from the Homestead Resort with 35 years of service.

He was of the Methodist faith.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pitching horse shoes, playing cards and games. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Susan Ryder Grose, his wife of 54 years, whom he married May 3, 1963; a daughter, Helen "Tittle" Propst and husband, Dale of Warm Springs, Virginia; a son, Steven Grose and friend, Tonya Howard of Hot Springs; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters; Anita Anderson of Churchville, Virginia and Joan Thomas of Covington, Kentucky; an aunt, Jeanette Messick of Staunton, Virginia; a close friend, Grover Marcum; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, George Patrick Grose; a brother, Carl Grose; and a sister, Helen Shaffier.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Gram officiating.
