VEPCO Retiree Dies At Age 92

Sarah Elizabeth (Betty) Lamb, age 92, of Covington, Virginia died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at her home in Clearwater Park.

A lifelong resident of the community, she was born November 18, 1926, the daughter of Maurice and Elliott Kight Lamb.

Following graduation from Covington High School, Betty began her 48-year career with Virginia Electric and Power Company, now Dominion Energy, in the Covington office.

After retirement, she devoted the next 25 years serving her Emmanuel Episcopal Church on the altar guild. Betty's life revolved around God, her family, pets and friends.

Betty is survived by her sister, Carolyn Friel and her nieces, Connie Cook and Judy Robichaux and husband, Neil, their children and grandchildren; nephews, Mark Lamb, Don Lamb, Wayne Lamb and their families. She also leaves behind dear friends, Linda O'Dell, Colleen Young and Sue Byers.

Betty was preceded in death by brothers, Maurice (June) Lamb, Donald (Ted) Lamb, David Lamb and Harry Lamb; sisters, Doris Lamb, Mary Lamb, and infant, Agnes Lamb; and a niece, Mary Elizabeth Friel.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. from the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service.
