Obituary for Frances B. Gaynor Frances B. Gaynor
Rockbridge County Native Was Westminster Presbyterian Church Member

Frances B. Gaynor, 94, of Waynesboro, Virginia passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at The Park Oak Grove in Roanoke.

She was born May 3, 1924 in Rockbridge County, daughter of the late William Walter and Mary Frances Hart Beckner. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Michael W. Gaynor; son, Jay Gaynor; and brother, William Beckner.

Frances was a graduate of Montreat College and Madison Teacher College. As a longtime active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church she was the first female Elder and was a Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are son, Walter Gaynor (Malina) of Roanoke; sister, Bernice Rexrode (Arval) of Waynesboro; brother, Wallace Beckner of Rockbridge Baths; grandchildren, Clayton (Rebecca) and William Gaynor; great-grandchildren, Reed and Evelyn Gaynor; very special friend, Bill Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019 at Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Rev. April Cranford. Burial will be private in Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1904 Mt. Vernon St., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
