Mrs. Bethel (Betty) Ray left this world on January 12, 2019.

She was 97 years old.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard K. "Jack" Ray, Sr. and son, James Scott "Mike" Ray.

She is survived by her son, Leonard K. "Buck" Ray, Jr. of Covington and daughters, Bethel R. Kersey (Leon) and Laura R. Guckert (Brian) of Chesapeake.

She was "Nana" to nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren.

A graveside will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Brian Center Nursing Center-Assisted Living, 100 ARH Lane Low Moor, VA 24457, the Covington Police Department, 333 W. Locust Street, Covington, VA 24426 or the Covington Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 588, Covington, VA 24426.
