Obituary for Cynthia Clarke Jarvis Cynthia Clarke Jarvis
Lexington Native Was Longtime Rockbridge County School Teacher

Cynthia Clarke Jarvis, 68, passed away in her home near Falling Spring on Friday, January 11, 2019 after a too long illness.

Cindy will be faithfully and lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Zac; her children, Rebecca Walters (Randy), and Capt. John Clarke Jarvis (Malia); five grandchildren, Cameron, Quinn, Lyndsay, Zoe and Jake; two great-grandchildren; the extended family; and many, many friends.

Cindy was born April 19, 1950 in Lexington, the daughter of the late Ballard and Edna Leech Clarke.

A graduate of Natural Bridge High School, Longwood College and Virginia Tech, Cindy taught for 35 years and retired from Rockbridge County Public Schools. After her retirement, she heartily worked for the Rockbridge Area YMCA.

She wholly embraced her role as wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

The family would like to especially extend grateful thanks to her health care providers from the UVA Cancer Center in Fishersville, Dr. Scott Dubit, and the Rockbridge Area Hospice for their genuine loving care.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. in Lexington at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joe Cailles will officiate with the family receiving friends at the church following the service. Arrangements will be made by Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cindy's memory may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, Trinity United Methodist Church, or the Rockbridge County Public Schools Foundation.
