McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church Member Was Former Cook At Regional Jail

Mrs. Annie Bess Stinespring, age 85, of Covington, Virginia died Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Woodlands Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was the wife of the late Harry Lee Stinespring, Jr.

Mrs. Stinespring was born January 14, 1934 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late James Raymond Bess and Minnie Chapman Bess.

She was employed as a cook by the Alleghany County Jail and was a former employee of Hercules, Inc.

Annie was of a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and baking sweet treats for others as well as going to yard sales. Annie was well known for her pound cakes, wedding cakes and homemade rolls.

Mrs. Stinespring is survived by a daughter, June Anne Cooke and husband, Ricky of Covington; two grandchildren, Christie Cooke Kinsey and husband, Ronnie and Stan Cooke and wife, Brooklyn; four great grandchildren, Rachael S. Kinsey, Mason K. Kinsey, Remi S. Cooke and Colter W. Cooke; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.. Monday, January 21, 2019 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating, assisted by Rev. Virgil Woodie. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Nicely, Berkley Paxton, Mason Kinsey, Stan Cooke, Ray Fridley, Gary Bess, and Ronnie Kinsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Fridley, B.A. Fridley and James Vest.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of June and Ricky Cooke, 102 Sherry May Street, Covington.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, 900 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426 or Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O.
