Denise Linkenauger Sprinkle, age 66, of 1959 Flowing Spring Road, Buchanan, Virginia died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at her residence.

Denise was born on November 28, 1952 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Frank and Ann Slusser Linkenauger.

She was a devoted teacher who retired with over forty years of service in the Botetourt County Public Schools. She previously served on the Botetourt County Planning Commission.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who put her family first. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, cooking meals, and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Peter Dean "Pete" Sprinkle of Buchanan; four children, Jason Sprinkle and wife, Melissa of Woodruff, SC, Amy Dorsey and husband, Steve of Versailles, KY, Michael Sprinkle and wife, Lareal of Fincastle, and Jenna Sprinkle and fiance, Eric Early of Roanoke; a brother, Quinn Linkenauger and wife, Peggy of Fincastle; eleven grandchildren, Laura, Jacqueline, Andrew, Clara, and John Sprinkle; Adaline, Emma, and Zachary Dorsey; and Luke, Addison, and Bryant Sprinkle; two nephews, Matt Linkenauger and Adam Linkenauger; and a first cousin, Tommy Slusser and wife, Kelly of Clifton Forge.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle with Pastor Barry Witt officiating. Interment will immediately follow. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Linkenauger, Adam Linkenauger, Steve Dorsey, and Eric Early.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Botetourt Funeral Home, in Buchanan.
