Obituary for William Winn (Winnie) Hise, Sr. William Winn (Winnie) Hise, Sr.
Bath County Native Was World War II Veteran, Longtime Mechanic, Former Supervisor

William Winn (Winnie) Hise, Sr., 93, of Warm Springs, Virginia died Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Shenandoah House, Fishersville, Virginia.

He was born December 1, 1925 in Bath County, Virginia, the son of the late John Wesley Hise and Pearl Gertrude Shaffier Hise.

He was married to the late Dorothy Elizabeth Brinkley Hise for over 60 years. Mr. Hise retired as a mechanic with 50 years of service, with over 30 years of taking care of the Warm Springs Cemetery.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the European Theater.

Winnie was one of the founding members of the Hot Springs Baptist Church and a member of the Coleman Brinkley VFW Post #4204. He served on the Bath County Board of Supervisors representing the Warm Springs District for four years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family; he was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by two children, Betty Ann Hise Botkin of Warm Springs, Virginia, William Winn Hise, Jr. and wife, Laura of Covington, Virginia; five grandchildren, Tom Botkin and wife, Chris, Bradley Hise and Jessica, Teddy Botkin and wife, Christina, Jennifer Hise and Josh, Errol Moats and Tabby; five great grandchild Maddie Baker, Gemma Lee Hise, Juliana Ramos, Julius Ramos, Jayliani Ramos, Syndall Moats.

He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Matthew Hise; a son-in-law, Tommy Botkin; six brothers and six sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Reverend Garland Humphries officiating. Interment will be in Warm Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Teddy Botkin, Bradley Hise, Errol Moats, Scottie Neil, Chuck Layman, James Layman, Calvin Robertson, Jr.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Tuesday evening at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
